To put money or weed into your safe, tap on the cash or the weed. Keep your finger on it and drag it to the safe. You will hear a sound like the safe is unlocking and locking and the counter should no longer have weed or cash on it. As long as all of your cash and weed are in the safe, they're protected from the Gangbangers when they visit. Your cash and weed are available to you while it's in the safe. There's no need to remove it from the safe once it's in there.
